Amigo is a brand you may be familiar with. They’re one of the oldest and most prestigious brands in the business, and they’re usually the manufacturer of the scooters you usually find in big box and grocery chains.
Amigo’s Shabbat Scooter is available in 3 models: RT, RD and HD models. The main difference between the three is the weight they can handle. For more on folding mobility scooters visit Electric Wheelchairs USA.
This is basically the only Kosher certified mobility scooter available today. Each unit is halachically approved by the Zomet Institute for Sabbath-keeping riders. The halachic principles involved are gramma (indirect action) and “continuous change of current”.
There is a rocker switch to change the operation from normal to Sabbath mode. When the scooter is in sabbatical mode, which does not have a throttle that the rider uses to engage, the module’s timing chain sets the seat to idle after approx. 10 seconds. This satisfies the “no work” sabbath restriction.
When using this mode, it is recommended that you use your scooter regularly, or at least turn it on and ride, to increase the likelihood of battery life. Perhaps one of the biggest advantages of this device is that it comes with Amigo’s world-class warranty.
Amigo has some of the best tech support in the business and will make sure you understand what the device does.
At Electric Wheelchairs USA, we truly love helping our customers make the best choice for their needs whether it is a power chair, mobility scooter, or lift chair.
